Natural Umber Vallejo 73109: dark earth, grime and realistic shadows

Extra-fine powder pigment designed for dark earth, dried grease and built-up dirt with natural-looking results. Its neutral dark brown tone adds depth and contrast in recesses, ties different dust tones together and transitions easily into black, ochres and siennas. The fine grain allows for glazes and smooth transitions over metal, plastic or resin, and its non-flammable nature makes it safe to use indoors. The 35 ml jar is enough for multiple weathering projects and dries without unwanted shine.

For dry application, place the pigment with a soft brush wherever dirt would naturally accumulate by gravity (horizontal surfaces, recesses, tracks and running gear). Blend with a clean brush to soften panels or break up uniform areas. If you want light fixation without losing texture, touch the pigment with a brush dampened in a fixer/binder; for extra volume, mix it with binder to a paste and create crusts, dried mud and heavy build-ups. Compatible with water, acrylics and varnishes; clean tools with water and soap.

Suggested uses: on military, civilian and industrial vehicles it creates dark grime on undersides, chassis, wheels and running gear; in engine bays and grilles it adds grime and dried grease; in rural or urban dioramas it simulates dark damp earth, ditches, dried puddles and aged wood. Alternate layers with ochres, siennas and blacks, sealing when needed to preserve the stratified weathering effect.
