Description
Dark Red Ochre Vallejo 73107: deep reddish earth and realistic rust-effect weathering
Extra-fine powder pigment designed for dark red ochre effects, reddish dust and ferruginous earth deposits with natural finishes. Its deep red-brown tone adds warmth and wear to exposed surfaces and makes it easy to transition into rust tones and browns. The fine grain allows glazes and smooth transitions on metal, plastic or resin, and its non-flammable nature lets you work safely indoors. The 35 ml jar will last for multiple weathering projects and dries without unwanted shine.
For dry application, place the pigment with a soft brush wherever it would naturally accumulate by gravity (horizontal surfaces, recesses, tracks and running gear). Blend with a clean brush to tone down panels or break up uniform areas. If you want light fixing without losing texture, touch the pigment with a brush dampened in a fixer/binder; for extra volume, mix it with binder to a paste and create crusts and build-ups. Compatible with water, acrylics and varnishes; tools can be cleaned with water and soap.

Suggested uses: on industrial and military vehicles it creates reddish earth deposits and transitions into rust; in urban and railway dioramas it simulates brick dust, reddish soil and ferruginous grime; in Mediterranean or temperate settings it adds red clays on roads, embankments and ruins. Alternate layers of ochres, siennas and rust colours, sealing when needed to preserve the stratified weathering effect.
